Erlend Apneseth Trio: Lokk (Single)
Erlend Apneseth Trio is finally out with a single from their new album “Lokk” (releasing March 12th). It manifests a new area for the trio, including completely fresh and precise electro-acoustic improvisations. It’s the sound of a worldwide dance culture meeting traditional south Asian ragas played by Apneseth´s astonishing Hardanger fiddle.
The title track “Lokk” features archival recordings of Anna Beito and Ragna Garthus. The music was originally commisioned by the dance company FRIKAR.
The trio of fiddle player Erlend Apneseth with guitarist Stephan Meidell and drummer Øyvind Hegg-Lunde follows up their Nordic Prize-nominated album of 2019, ‘Salika, Molika’, with a remarkable suite of tunes inspired by the rhythms and physicality of the human body in motion.
Erlend Apneseth: Hardanger fiddle, mora harp
Øyvind Hegg-Lunde: drums, percussion, electronic drums
Stephan Meidell: acoustic baritone guitar, sampler and electronics
