Kim Myhr announce new solo album and shares track
Here´s the sound of your psychedelic summer! The track “Milk run sky” is the first teaser from recent Jenny Hval collaborator Kim Myhr´s upcoming solo album “Bloom” that is due for release on HUBRO on September 2nd.
In recent years, Myhr has been one of the leading voices on the experimental scene in Norway as both a composer and a guitarist. In March 2014, he released the critically acclaimed solo record «All Your Limbs Singing» (SOFA), which was reminiscent of both early Feldman and Ligeti’s sound masses, but also had an energy and simplicity that could bring American folk music to mind. On the upcoming album «Bloom» Myhr takes his music in a new and more electronic direction.
«In The End His Voice Will Be The Sound Of Paper» – the collaborative album Kim Myhr released together with Trondheim Jazz Orchestra and Jenny Hval earlier this year, was described by the Quietus as «an arresting piece of work», and by Slug Magazine as «a grotesquely beautiful paradox of sound, pleasing to the last».
Myhr is an active composer, and writes for chamber ensembles, electroacoustic settings and various theatrical projects. He is also a member of the trio MURAL along with Jim Denley and Ingar Zach. Kim has done collaborations with Sidsel Endresen, Sebastian Roux and Lasse Marhaug to mention just a few.
